Vertical Pacific, Inc. was founded in 2021 by Owner and Managing Principal, Katie Hanten. Katie is a Licensed Civil Engineer with a decade of experience providing Civil Engineering and Project Management services for clients across Northern California.

Katie holds a Bachelor's Degree in Physics from Pacific Lutheran University as well as a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. She has completed work on over two-dozen Urban Core development projects in Sacramento in recent years and has a background in water/wastewater design, transportation engineering, and land development design & consulting.

In addition to Civil Engineering, Katie has a passion for real estate development and has experience managing ground-up industrial & multifamily development projects across California & Nevada. In her early career, she worked for MGM Resorts as an Engineering Operations Project Manager, overseeing the renovation & construction of 1000+ hotel rooms and over a dozen retail spaces on the Las Vegas Strip which sparked her passion for design & construction. She will serve as incoming Chair of Urban Land Institute's local Sacramento chapter (35 & Under age group).

Katie formed Vertical Pacific in order to focus her work on meaningful development projects that provide local residents with attainable housing options and mixed-use developments that create a "buzz" and an elevated user experience for their neighborhoods. She is committed to helping Sacramento realize its full potential as a California destination and working with local creators that share that same vision.
